JESSICA CORNISH AND LIA KOHL
To Separate Two Things is a durational movement work for two masked performers, which is both an exploration of what it means to be a self and a meditation on the act of being present. The work presents a multiplicity of separations: between mind and body, sight and touch, paper and wood, and between body and body.
The work exists in multiple forms: as a 10 minute performance, as a 4 hour durational work, and as a dance for camera in multiple locations. It is a lifetime project, meant to be revised and revisited yearly as we enter new ages, new mindsets, and new bodies.
To Separate Two things has been presented at High Concept Labs, DANK Haus, Experimental Sound Studio, Comfort Station and Mana Contemporary Chicago.
